Dawn Witherington specializes in graphic design and scientific illustration.
Her strengths include biological training and an ability to coordinate with
experts to achieve accurate artistic depictions of species, life histories, and
ecological relationships. Dawn was trained as a graphic design artist at the
Art Institutes of Colorado and Ft. Lauderdale, and she received training
in the biological sciences from the University of Central Florida. During
a 32-year career as a professional artist, Dawn worked as art director for a
number of advertising agencies before establishing her own freelance
business. Dawn’s art and design are prominent in natural history books,
posters, exhibits, and a line of sea-themed greeting cards. She has an
extensive portfolio of scientific illustration and is co-author of four books,
Florida’s Living Beaches, Florida’s Seashells, Living Beaches of Georgia
and the Carolinas, and Seashells of Georgia and the Carolinas.
